In the summer of 2009, Joel Murray broke his wrist training for a then upcoming bike tour. His summer plans shattered, he purchased two casio keyboards for $15, teaching himself to play. The Broken Wrist EP is the culmination of his time alone reflecting. A departure from the rocking guitars of his previous album Young, this EP explores sound collages, drum machines, samples, and chirpy synths, all combined with dark lyrics. If Young is the beginning of a Saturday night party, then The Broken Wrist EP is waking up drunk in the police station not knowing what happened.
In addition to his gentle voiced songwriting Murray is also a zine writer, drummer-for-hire, and has backed Christopher Bell on numerous tours.
